Summer City Guide: 72 hours in Sts Constantine and Helena
Good food, sea views and a couple of northern detours

Our journey along the northern Black Sea coast continues at a summer favourite:
Sts Constantine and Helena. A short drive from Varna, it has a mood of its own. Days pass over long lunches, sea views and time that doesn’t seem to press. After sunset, cocktails and music take their turn. For this Summer City Guide, we’ve gathered places we return to around the resort, plus two detours if you fancy driving further north. Your next trip can start here.
Lunch with a sea view: Villa Chinka

For a long lunch in Sts Constantine and Helena, Villa Chinka is usually near the top of our list. The restaurant sits right above the sea, and the view gives you a reason to linger after dessert.
But the kitchen is what brings us back.
The menu follows the season and relies on good ingredients without fuss. This is a place for lunch with time to spare, a glass of wine and sea air.
Dinner in a Greek mood: Mythos

You don’t always want to travel to Greece, but a little of its atmosphere can be appealing, particularly in high summer. That’s when we’d book Mythos. Right on the shore, its tables almost touch the water. A Greek-inspired menu makes it a good choice for fresh fish, seafood and Mediterranean flavours. Book for just before sunset: the view is almost as much of an attraction as dinner.
Cocktails, music and the beach: HAMA SAKÉ Beach Club

As day becomes evening, HAMA SAKÉ is one of the places we’d head to. Spend the day on the beach with a cocktail,
then watch the pace change after sunset, with music and visiting DJs
encouraging you to stay. Sea, food, beach and evening entertainment come together in one place, making it a good final stop for a summer day in the resort.
A little further by car: Kamen Bryag

Kamen Bryag makes a day-trip detour north, around 95 to 100 kilometres from Sts Constantine and Helena. The scenery rewards the drive: high cliffs and open sea rather than broad beaches and noisy bars. If you’re staying a while, bring a picnic. For stops like this, we’d put a picnic blanket and an insulated coffee cup from Silver Star in the boot. Settle in and watch the sky change colour, a small moment that stays with you afterwards.
A day away from the crowds: Krapets

For broad, quiet beaches instead of busy resorts, allow a day for Krapets. The drive from Sts Constantine and Helena is around an hour and a half, leading to long sandy stretches, dunes and a feeling of having the sea to yourself.
You don’t need much here:
good company, a towel, a cold drink and a few free hours. For a whole day on the beach, Silver Star’s folding chair fits easily in the boot. Once you’ve used it, you might wonder why you didn’t bring it on other trips.
