City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

Spring takes us back into Oborishte,

a neighbourhood that keeps finding new ways to surprise us with its food, energy and artistic discoveries. Its streets bring together welcoming restaurants, thoughtful boutiques, wine shops and spaces for making things. A walk here becomes a small journey of its own. Coffee to wake you up, a dessert to improve the afternoon, a quiet room away from the traffic: each stop offers something worth noticing. Make this route your own pause for food, art and a little freedom in the city, and let Oborishte do the rest.

Decantus Wines

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

Decantus Wines had just opened its Oborishte boutique when the original April feature appeared, bringing together more than 400 labels from wine regions around the world.

The selection takes in classic European appellations

and more adventurous New World finds. The team have a taste for boutique estates and small producers, choosing bottles for their balance of quality, character and sheer pleasure. Look out for the shop’s current tastings and visits from winemakers, who tell the stories behind their wines in person.

Atelier

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

Atelier Restaurant has the sort of atmosphere you register before you can quite describe it. In the heart of Oborishte, its artistic spirit and delicate aesthetic bear the presence of Beloslava: light, distinctive and lingering, like a song after the last note. The menu follows a clear idea of seasonal cooking, balance and care.

Fresh salads and familiar dips, including its fragrant kyopolou aubergine spread, sit alongside tender ribs

and creamy pâté. These are comforting dishes, prepared with an emphasis on freshness and ingredients that don’t need much embellishment. Attention to provenance and thoughtful combinations give the menu its character. A considered wine list and small details complete a room where anyone who enjoys a good city meal should feel at ease. The food tells you something about the season, the place and the people behind it.

Jardin Restaurant

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

Every city needs rooms that turn down the noise and let you settle back into yourself. Jardin Restaurant offers that sort of ease, elegance and warmth, like a quietly welcoming city drawing room.

The menu follows the seasons,

with balanced flavours designed to sit comfortably alongside the wines. As an extension of the Seewines approach, wine remains central. Each plate adds texture and aroma to the conversation, while the bottles range from classics to limited finds. There’s ample reason to turn an ordinary evening into dinner out.

Marashlian Pastry

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

Our walk continues to a home for artisan pastry and carefully composed flavours. In this spring 2026 portrait, head pastry chef Georgi Chergarov and the team combine experience, imagination and respect for tradition.

Even classic recipes get a fresh interpretation at Marashlian Pastry,

with an elegant, minimal appearance that runs through the collection. Check the pastry shop’s own channels for current opening hours and news from the kitchen.

Bistro Mò

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

Some places reach you by word of mouth: a friend tells a friend, who tells you. Mò, meaning “now, in this moment”, suits that kind of discovery. The short seasonal menu

puts quality Bulgarian ingredients into dishes with a gently nostalgic comfort.

Behind it is Vesi Zurbrugg, an early advocate of wine culture in Bulgaria. Carefully chosen wines complete the selection. Everything feels thought through without becoming heavy-handed, like a well-laid table that asks you to stay a little longer.

Osteria Tartufo

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

An established name on Sofia’s food map, Osteria Tartufo shows how satisfying the classics can be when made with care. Its pizzas are the sort you return for, with well-judged combinations and quality ingredients.

There’s pasta worth making time for, too, along with fresh starters

and desserts that turn your thoughts towards Italy. The aromas alone can make a persuasive argument for sitting down.

SETU [C’est tout]

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

SETU feels a little like Aladdin’s carpet, or a well-packed suitcase holding small pleasures from different parts of the world. Its name, from the French c’est tout, hints at the satisfaction of finding just what you need.

Foie gras, terrines and rillettes from French producer Comtesse du Barry

sit alongside natural bodycare, fragrances and accessories from Acqua dell’Elba, candles and wines that speak of their origins. The quiet, carefully arranged room has something of a gallery about it, with flavours in place of paintings. Choosing becomes a small pleasure in itself.

Pavillion 37

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

With its olive-green metal frontage, Pavillion 37 offers a small glimpse of another city. Inside, the French-bistro feeling continues: gently worn chairs,

small tables, vases of fresh flowers and an easy elegance.

Paintings add a delicate, almost storybook layer to the room. The approach is straightforward: seasonal cooking, attention to flavour, homemade desserts and a wine selection with personality. It’s one of those places that makes Sofia feel more like itself.

The Coffee Specialty Coffee House

City Walk: eating, drinking and exploring Oborishte

The Coffee fills its corner of the city with the promise of a good cup. This cosy address brings speciality-coffee culture together with an artistic spirit, supporting theatre, art and a community that notices the details. The beans travel widely,

from Ethiopia’s fruit and citrus notes to Guatemala’s chocolate and honey,

Kenya’s vivid fruit profile and Mexico’s warmer caramel character. Each cup is carefully balanced, with a signature blend adding depth and a more classic approach.
